    Litbuy Tips

    Who we are

Litbuy Tips is a small editorial desk in Portland, Oregon. We cover shopping agents — the services that buy from online marketplaces on your behalf, receive the goods at their own warehouse, photograph them, consolidate the parcel and hand it to a shipping line. Our team placed its first agent-mediated order in 2019, published its first fee audit in 2020, and launched this desk under its current name in 2021.

The desk was founded by Elena Marsh, who spent four years pricing air and sea freight for a Portland consolidator before turning to consumer-facing agent services. What started as a shared spreadsheet of agent fees grew into a standing order queue, a QC photo archive and this site. Priya Raghavan runs the hands-on haul programme, and Tomas Lindqvist keeps the shipping-line and customs data honest.

    How we work

We order the goods, pay the fees and wait like any other customer. Nothing on this site is written from a press release or a spec sheet alone. When we describe a warehouse, it is because our parcel sat in it. When we quote a shipping line's transit time, it is because we tracked that lane from handover to delivery. When we say a QC photo was unusable, it is because we tried to grade a garment's stitching from a shot taken under a single yellowish bulb.

Our standard operating procedure for a test run has five steps. First, we open an agent account and record the published fee table on the day of order. Second, we buy items across at least two categories so the consolidation behaviour is visible. Third, we review the warehouse QC photos at full resolution and reject anything that does not match the listing. Fourth, we choose a shipping line and log every status change. Fifth, we weigh, measure and photograph the parcel on arrival in Portland and reconcile the invoice line by line.

We buy what we test, and we keep the receipts. If a fee turns out to be lower than advertised, that goes in the review too. Running costs, corrections and the occasional parcel that never arrives are all part of the record.

    What we publish

Reviews of agents, shipping lines and the items we actually ordered, each with a five-point rating and a dated testing note. We also publish fee explainers, comparison tables and a running log of lane changes. Our pages are written for readers in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and the European Union who are weighing whether an agent is worth the extra step.

Litbuy Tips earns commission from some outbound links. That is disclosed on every page that carries them, and it does not change what the spreadsheet says. Questions, corrections and test suggestions go to editorial@litbuy.tips.

    Rebuilding the invoice

Litbuy Tips helps readers reconcile the delivered bill rather than comparing the headline shipping quote alone. Our lane tables keep parcel weight, destination and declared value alongside each fee so a lower quote can be checked against the final invoice.
